Whitefish Bay, WI January 6, 2005 -- hen and barley press, a company that provides note cards, invitations, photo cards and gift cards featuring classic designs with a modern twist, has expanded into retail stores & catalogs across the U.S.

hen and barley began selling its line via the Internet and private shows in 2002. Jennifer Morgan, hen and barleys owner and designer, says that the lines classic with a modern twist aesthetic was inspired by vintage things she loves, including linens and fabrics, but is infused with a simplicity that todays consumers appreciate because it allows for versatility. The lines overall simplicity allows customers to use hen and barley products many different waysimprinted or blank, as an invitation or as a note card, with a photo or without. My philosophy is that busy customers are seeking easy ways to maintain personal connections and entertain, while still having room to add their own creative touches via personalization, so I set out to design a line that supports that philosophy.

The expansion into retail stores will enable hen and barley to reach new markets and offer customers the ability to purchase products in a variety of ways: some retailers will offer personalization of hen and barley cards and invitations, which are laser and ink jet compatible, while others will offer blank and fill-in versions only. After making its debut at the National Stationery Show in May 2004, the line is now available in upscale stores in Florida, Illinois, New Hampshire, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Utah & Wisconsin. Sandra K. Cohen, Ltd represents the line in Manhattan and Westchester and Fairfield Counties.

Jennifer Morgan is confident about the appeal of hen and barley products in the current marketplace, saying, I am thrilled that the line has been received so well in such a short time. Retailers have responded well because the lines versatility gives them more ways to sell any one product, and customers have responded well because the look is fresh and different.

hen and barley will be attending the 2005 National Stationery Show in May, and there will introduce many new designs to its original collection. In response to requests from retailers, hen and barley has added a line of self-adhesive labels, and expanded its popular cameo collection of note cards, gift cards, and bookplates. All designs are offered packaged or bulk.
